As cooperatives focus on our cooperative advantage, we bring enhanced value to members and drive successful business outcomes.  This success makes the case for how cooperatives benefit members, employees, other stakeholders, and local economies.

The cooperative structure is under attack from investor-owned businesses.  Members don’t fully understand the benefit they are receiving from being a member-owner of their cooperative.  Communities are investing billions of dollars a year to recruit investor-owned business to locate in their region.  Making the most of our cooperative advantage gives us the tools to ensure that communities can protect and cultivate cooperatives as a way to meet a wide array of human needs. As cooperatives across the country more clearly define the roles we are playing in the economy, civic life, and our communities, we document the case for cooperatives as a powerful and vibrant business model.
